I am an accredited member of the BACP – British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their guidelines of good practice.

I have over 10 years’ experience of working full time as a CBT psychotherapist supporting others compassionately with life challenges and empowering individuals so they can develop their own coping strategies to ease their problems that they are experiencing. I have experience of working with a range of psychological problems such as Anxiety, Depression, Panic, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD, Low Self-Esteem, Life and/or work-related stress.

I provide confidential, online therapy for individuals from 18 years of age onwards. I use WhatsApp / Skype / Zoom / Microsoft Teams / Telephone therapy.

My work experience to date with adults has made me an extremely informed, clinically experienced practitioner tailoring each session to your needs.

How online therapy can help

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy – (CBT) is goal orientated, focussing on negative thoughts and behaviours and, how they affect how we feel. Negative thoughts can prevent us from seeing things logically we can hold onto negative thoughts, which will only lead to us feeling worse. Together we would develop a problem list and a plan to tackle the presenting problems.

In our joined-up approach of working together, we will develop a formulation (a blueprint of what is going on for you and how I can best support you.)

Throughout our sessions, we will build on coping mechanisms, which I will encourage you to use daily between sessions and onwards. These may include:

  • Exploring change becoming aware that change comes from within ourselves not others

  • Cognitive reconstruction (building thought records to become aware and alter our unhelpful thoughts)

  • Guided imagery ( a safe place) to distract self when feeling anxious or low in mood

  • Developing self- gratitude and compassion

  • Building resilience and self-esteem through an image of a coach to support you that is, a person you look up to and admire to support and guide you with compassion when times are challenging

  • Build self-awareness and emotional intelligence by identifying unhelpful thinking styles

Rest assured that at all times I will be non-judgemental, compassionate and guide you at your pace into stability with your well-being. Together we will explore how familiar situations arise and how we can put the brakes on your unhelpful responses of the past to discover a new way of managing what were stressful situations.

By the end of therapy, we will have collaborated on a tool kit for well-being for you for the future as life’s challenges arise.

I look forward to hearing from you and I am aware that taking a step to contact a therapist is a challenging one, but a simple telephone conversation with me may assist in putting you at ease.

Feedback about therapy with Rachel

“Rachel was amazing. Very friendly and professional. Helped me become the best version of myself.” Anonymous

“Rachel is kind, approachable and very structured. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with her and learning how to manage difficulties I had been facing. I highly recommend her!” Kate

“From our very first interaction Rachel was incredibly kind, welcoming and supportive, and that only continued in our sessions. This was my first time taking part in therapy and it’s an experience that has truly changed my life, and that’s a testament to Rachel. Her professionalism and genuine care really cultivates a space of safety and openness, making the entire process of being vulnerable so much easier. Accepting help can be daunting but it’s something we all deserve, and I’m so grateful I found the help I needed in Rachel. I couldn’t recommend her enough!” Georgina

“Rachel is a kind, lovely compassionate woman who helped me to kindly and softly address some overlying issues I was facing, and equip me with the means to combat these and slowly heal from trauma I suffer with from childhood. I would recommend Rachel to anyone, she is so lovely.” Emily

Eye Movement Desensitisation Regulation (EMDR)

EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE.)

In sessions, EMDR helps you to do your own healing by reprocessing disturbing and upsetting memories that still affect you each day. EMDR helps you to reprocess traumatic memories working with "one foot in the past and one foot in the present." To allow emotional feelings felt about the event to be reprocessed.

We build many support tools initially in EMDR such as a calm place to go to in your mind, a container for disturbing memories and upsetting feelings, these are just two examples of the support tools we can explore together using your imagination to ground and calm you during the sessions and in between sessions.

During the sessions of EMDR we will be doing Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) stimulating the left and right side of the brain using eye movements. This enables you to recall what happened and lessen the disturbing feelings with me supporting you every step of the way.
