Together we will work to help you feel better, happier, more in control and confident in who you are as a person. As you begin to understand yourself and why you do things more, this will open you up to greater awareness in all parts of your life; home, work and relationships.

As a professional psychologist with extensive psychotherapy training, I know the right questions to ask, to listen to what makes you who you are, to appropriately challenge you and then to develop a joint way of working that will help you to achieve your goals. I will use techniques adapted to you, to help you to understand why you feel and behave the way you do now. We can then explore what has been blocking you from leading the life you want to lead, and aid you in developing the insight/coping skills to let you lead that life.

Why choose to come to see me?

Many people have had experience of therapy in the past and it has not produced the results they wanted. This in part can be due to the person going to see a therapist who is trained in one specific therapeutic modality (approach). This means that the therapist is trying to fit the person to the approach, instead of the other way around. I have been trained in multiple different modalities, so I can tailor the therapy based on your individual needs.

What will the sessions look like?

In the first session, the whole therapeutic process will be explained to you. We will work through a consent form together and then we will work through a few questionnaires. These forms will be returned to you at various times in the therapeutic process to ensure you are feeling safe and contained in the process and it is working for you. We will then spend the rest of the time talking about you and what areas you think would be helpful to explore.

Future sessions are structured. We meet for 50 minutes a week over zoom/telephone. Sessions include interactive and creative elements: talking about what’s happening for you in the ‘here and now,’ detailed history taking, physical techniques such as mindfulness meditation and family sculpting exercises, developing behavioural experiments, drawing and writing tools, and setting homework assignments when appropriate to supplement the in-session learning.

You will be encouraged to take more ownership of the process as the therapy progresses so that you learn to not become overly reliant on the therapy and you can recognise and give yourself what you need in the future.

Feedback from Kevin’s clients

Kevin's Compassionate Guidance: Stefan's Journey

“Kevin is a really excellent listener and good at asking questions to help you explore yourself and thought patterns better. What impressed me in particular was how he remembered details I'd brought up in previous sessions, even if it was a while back. It really illustrates how he cares and gives proper thought to each client. He was always very patient, understanding, and welcoming. Can definitely recommend to anyone who wants to explore their thought patterns more!” Stefan

A Journey of Progress: Reflecting on Personal Development

“Thank you for the time spent listening to me. I have progressed as a person and although i have more to explore i think this was also a good time to take a break.”

Guided Insights and Practical Reflections

“Kevin was very good at let me just talk through my problems, often after a good talk he would question things in a manor that would make me realise my answers were right in front of me. The home work pieces were fantastic as they too were like Kevins questions and made me think more about the topic or emotion.” Austin

Narrative Therapy Success

“Kevin's narrative based therapy was exactly what I needed to overcome my issue. I also learnt a lot about myself in the process. I cannot thank Kevin enough for his help! Really appreciated the work and challenges he set for me. Even though at times I could not see the purpose of some exercises, they always turned out to be very useful. He also provided feedback whenever I requested it. I would strongly recommend Kevin!” Stefan

Gratitude for Therapeutic Guidance

I want to put on record a massive thanks to Dr Scott for helping me through the start of therapy to now that I have chosen to complete it. He helped me on the entire process and gave me a lot of different aspects to think about and work through, which has helped me find peace and feel comfortable where I am today.” Charlie

Connecting Dots for Self-Understanding

“Dr Scott is a fantastic therapist who actively listens, then guides you to places where you can make sense of the world around you and your actions. He has helped me to connect dots between past experiences and current behavioural patterns. I've really enjoyed the sessions, albeit some are very difficult to get through. But like anything in life, if you put in the hard work, you will see results.” Joe

Appreciation for Kevin's Thoughtful Engagement

“I very much appreciated Kevin's astute questions and that he recalled and brought in my comments / thoughts from previous sessions” Anonymous

Practical Strategies for improved Mental Health

“Dr Kevin Scott is amazing. He's professional, punctual, flexible and beyond understanding. His approachable personality made it easier for me to open up without the fear of being judged. The tasks he assigned were very practical and made me view things differently and come up with better ways to cope with issues. I have definitely learnt some strategies to better deal with my mental health issues all credit, of course, goes to Dr. Scott.” Nina

Overcoming Skepticism: William's Transformation

“I'll freely admit that I was a little skeptical about how effective therapy would be when I first started, but Dr. Scott quickly proved all these fears unfounded. He provided clear instruction and guidance throughout each session, and most crucially to the whole process, I felt he was consistently able to get to the heart of whatever problem was being discussed and guide me towards a far healthier and more productive mindset. He is clearly well versed in many therapy techniques and I was extremely impressed and grateful for the ways in which he tailored our sessions to my specific needs. I cannot recommend his services enough to anyone who might be struggling with any kind of self-esteem or relationship issues. Thank you for all your hard work, Kevin!” William

What I have gained from this period has really help me to work through some interesting and difficult topics in my life. A huge thank you to Kevin!!” SB

Challenging Yet Supportive

“Kevin was an understanding and insightful therapist. He worked with me and challenged me (as requested). I would happily recommend him to a friend.” KM

A Gentle Introduction to Therapy, a positive endorsement

"Kevin was my very first therapist as I was always worried about going, and had put it off. It was helpful to be supplied with 3 therapists and picked one, which is where I found Kevin. He was really sensitive and supportive, and I liked that he could make me laugh. He was really good at taking note of things I have said in previous sessions and linking them.

I thought I would struggle to talk for an hour (about myself) but I actually found it really easy. He seemed to have a great pulse of what needed more immediate attention to talk through to improve my day to day, and then also built up to bigger things.

I really recommend Kevin for anyone feeling a bit nervous about the therapy experience as he will keep you at ease!” CF
