About Rebecca

Hello, my name is Rebecca. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor offering one to one talking therapy online - support and a listening ear when things get tough.

At the very core of my counselling practice is my belief that we all deserve to be who we are, without judgement. Counselling offers a safe, confidential space within which you can openly explore the difficulties that you are facing. Talking it over can help.

My experience

My work as a counsellor has given me the opportunity to sit with people facing a wide range of life's struggles: depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, physical and emotional trauma, work-related stress and relationship difficulties. I also have particular experience supporting the families and friends of people living with long-term mental or physical illness, which can be an isolating position to be in and one that often goes unrecognised.

How I work

As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor, my role is to be alongside you during the counselling process, offering empathy, respect and encouragement. There are times when you just need someone to hear you. Allowing yourself to take that time to look after you can be challenging and sometimes unfamiliar, and it can ultimately lead to a greater sense of wellbeing and understanding.

I bring a compassionate and thoughtful approach to the work, with a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. Real change often happens when people feel genuinely seen and understood, and I aim to offer a space where you can safely explore both your difficulties and your strengths. I am attentive to where you are in terms of readiness for change, and I adapt my approach to meet you there, so that things feel manageable rather than overwhelming.

I also offer CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), which can be a helpful way of building in practical tools and techniques to manage the everyday challenges and symptoms you might be facing.

Short-term or longer-term work

I have experience of both longer-term therapeutic relationships and shorter-term, solution-focused work. Some people come with something specific they want to work through over a handful of sessions; others want a longer, more open-ended space. We will talk about what would suit you best, and revisit it as we go.

Together, we can find ways of enabling you to move forward in your life, with greater knowledge of yourself and tools to help you manage difficult feelings.
