Meizhen Li
Psychodynamic Therapist
Pronouns: She/Her
I am a BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor and therapist working with adults of all ages in person and online. I can speak Mandarin and English and offer therapy in both languages. The number of sessions needed can vary from person to person, depending on individual needs. I offer both long-term and brief psychodynamic therapy.
I provide a non-judgmental and containing space for you to explore any unresolved conflicts and issues hidden in your unconscious that may be affecting your thoughts and feelings. If you are seeking therapy for some particular reason, such as depression, anxiety, childhood trauma or difficult relationships, we can work together to explore how your current feelings and behaviour are influenced by your past experiences and get to the roots of the problem. Or if you have a genuine interest in exploring yourself and seeking self-knowledge, as well as relieving symptoms, have the capacity for self-reflection, and are naturally curious about your internal world, then psychodynamic therapy should work well for you.
Raised in China and now based in the UK for over 13 years, I understand first-hand the richness and tension of living between cultures. That personal journey, together with rigorous analytic training, shapes the way I practise psychodynamic psychotherapy: offering a containing, reflective space where we explore how early experiences and unconscious patterns influence life today. Whether you are navigating life between China and the UK, wrestling with questions of belonging, or simply longing to feel more at home in yourself, I offer thoughtful companionship and depth-oriented therapy in the language that feels safest to you.

What is a Psychodynamic Therapist?
A Psychodynamic Therapist helps clients explore the deeper roots of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By understanding past experiences and unconscious patterns, they support individuals in gaining insight, resolving emotional conflicts, and fostering personal growth. Psychodynamic therapy is collaborative and tailored, offering a safe, non-judgmental space to explore challenges and build long-lasting change.
