  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based & well researched talking therapy. It is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for many mental health problems.

It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for many other mental and physical health problems.

CBT focuses upon how your thoughts and behaviours impact upon your emotions and physical symptoms.

CBT is collaborative treatment and typically involves doing homework tasks between appointments.

It aims to teach you to become your own therapist, teaching you tools so you can keep using the strategies and techniques you have learned after you have finished therapy.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)

Trauma-Focused CBT is a specialist, evidence-based form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic experiences. It is recommended by NICE guidelines for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Traumatic experiences — such as childhood trauma, sexual assault, road traffic accidents, medical trauma or sudden loss — can leave the nervous system feeling constantly on alert. You may experience flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive memories, avoidance, hypervigilance, shame or emotional numbness.

    Trauma-Focused CBT helps you to:

    • Safely process traumatic memories at a pace that feels manageable

    • Understand how trauma affects the brain and body

    • Reduce flashbacks and intrusive thoughts

    • Address trauma-related beliefs (such as guilt, shame or self-blame)

    • Gradually reduce avoidance behaviours

    • Rebuild a sense of safety and control

Fiorinta provides a structured, compassionate and collaborative approach, ensuring that you feel stabilised and supported before working directly with traumatic material. Sessions include practical coping strategies to help regulate anxiety and emotional overwhelm.

Over time, Trauma-Focused CBT helps traumatic memories feel less distressing and less powerful, allowing you to move forward with greater confidence and emotional freedom.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other anxiety disorders. It is recommended by NICE guidelines as the gold-standard psychological treatment for OCD.

ERP works by gently and gradually helping you face the situations, thoughts or images that trigger anxiety (the exposure), while supporting you to resist the urge to carry out compulsions or safety behaviours (the response prevention).

Over time, this process helps your brain learn that:

    • Anxiety naturally rises and falls

    • Feared outcomes are less likely than they feel

    • You can tolerate uncertainty and discomfort

    • Compulsions are not necessary to stay safe

Fiorinta provides structured, collaborative ERP tailored to your pace and goals. Together, you will develop a clear plan, build confidence step by step, and practise new responses in a supportive and safe therapeutic environment.

ERP can be highly effective for:

    • OCD (including intrusive thoughts and compulsions)

    • Health anxiety

    • Panic disorder

    • Social anxiety

    • Specific phobias

    • Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

With consistent practice, ERP helps you regain freedom from fear-driven behaviours and take back control of your life.

  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is a structured, evidence-based talking therapy that focuses on how your relationships and life experiences impact your mood and emotional wellbeing.

IPT works from the understanding that difficulties such as depression, anxiety and low mood are often closely linked to relationship stress, life transitions, grief or unresolved conflict. Rather than focusing primarily on thoughts (as in CBT), IPT helps you explore patterns in communication, emotional expression and connection with others.

In IPT, Fiorinta will work collaboratively with you to:

    • Identify relationship patterns that may be maintaining distress

    • Improve communication and assertiveness skills

    • Process grief or significant loss

    • Navigate major life transitions (such as parenthood, separation, illness or career change)

    • Strengthen supportive relationships

IPT is typically time-limited (around 12–16 sessions) and goal-focused. It helps you build insight into how interpersonal difficulties affect your mood, while developing practical strategies to improve relationships and emotional resilience.

This approach is particularly effective for depression (including postnatal depression), persistent low mood and relationship difficulties.
