What do each of types of therapy Ashleigh is trained in involve?
BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist
Ashleigh is accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), meaning she has met rigorous standards for training, clinical practice, and professional ethics. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours influence each other, and supports them in developing practical skills to create lasting change.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is a specialist form of CBT particularly effective for treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related difficulties. It involves gradually and safely facing fears or triggers (exposure) while resisting the usual compulsive behaviours (response prevention). Over time, this helps reduce anxiety and break the cycle of OCD.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a therapeutic approach that helps clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in the present moment. By cultivating a non-judgemental attitude, mindfulness can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and support long-term wellbeing. It is often integrated with other therapies to help clients respond to challenges with clarity and calm.
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy combines elements of cognitive, behavioural, attachment, and experiential approaches to address deep-rooted patterns—known as ‘schemas’—that often develop in childhood. It helps clients understand and change unhelpful beliefs and behaviours that keep them stuck, fostering healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating to others.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-focused approach that helps clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change. Through guided conversation, it builds motivation, strengthens commitment, and supports clients in taking steps towards their personal goals, particularly when facing habits or behaviours they want to shift.
