Dr Andrew Healey is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist specialising in anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, and the psychological impact of long-term health conditions. He has particular expertise in supporting people experiencing persistent anxiety symptoms, medically unexplained symptoms (e.g. IBS, functional neurological symptoms), and feeling ‘stuck’ despite previous treatment.

How Andrew can help you

You might be feeling constantly anxious or on edge, experiencing panic attacks, or struggling with physical symptoms that don’t seem to have a clear medical explanation. You may feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or stuck in cycles of worry, avoidance, or overthinking, especially if you’ve tried things before and nothing has quite worked. Andrew will help you understand what’s driving these patterns and work with you to develop practical, evidence-based strategies to regain a sense of control, reduce symptoms, and feel more confident in managing your wellbeing.

Andrew has several years of NHS experience as a Clinical Psychologist, including working as a Consultant Psychologist and service lead. His specialist interest is helping people cope with long-term health conditions and medically unexplained symptoms, sometimes referred to as ‘functional problems’ (e.g. IBS, Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder).

Alongside this, he supports people with a wide range of common mental health difficulties. He follows best practice guidelines and keeps his work up to date through ongoing training, professional development, and regular clinical supervision. He has experience working across a variety of settings with people facing a broad range of challenges.

Andrew takes time to fully understand your difficulties before selecting the most appropriate approach. He is trained in a range of evidence-based therapies and tailors his work to each individual. He also has experience supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with autism, ADHD, or mild learning disabilities.

If you’re looking to improve your emotional wellbeing, better understand your experiences, and develop effective ways of coping, Andrew offers a thoughtful, collaborative space to begin that process.

Client testimonials

Andrew took time to understand and listen to my difficulties, something I had not experienced with other professionals. He was compassionate and helped me understand why I felt and thought the way I did. He provided space to consider practical solutions and strategies to cope. We also reflected on how my trauma may have effected my outlook on life and how it may contribute to my difficulties. From the help I received I am more confident, happier and more able to cope when things don't turn out as I expect." Anonymous

What is a clinical Psychologist?

A Clinical Psychologist is a mental health professional who specialises in diagnosing, treating, and preventing a wide range of psychological issues and mental illnesses.

They have advanced training, usually including a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, which equips them to use various evidenced based therapeutic techniques and psychological assessments.

Unlike psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists typically do not prescribe medication; instead, they focus on using talk therapy and other non-medical interventions to help individuals understand and overcome their challenges, improve their mental well-being, and manage their mental health effectively.
