About Alison
I am a BACP-accredited psychodynamic and integrative therapist with more than 20 years’ experience supporting adults and older adolescents through emotional difficulties, relationship problems and significant life changes.
I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can talk openly and feel genuinely heard. I work collaboratively, adapting therapy to your individual needs, experiences and goals. I particularly enjoy working with young adults as they navigate relationships, identity, independence and changes in their personal or professional lives.
You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, parenting difficulties, relationship problems, loss or a sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. You may also have noticed patterns in your relationships or emotional responses that you would like to understand and change.
Psychodynamic therapy explores how past experiences and relationships may be influencing the way you feel, behave and relate to others today. Developing a deeper understanding of these patterns can help you make more conscious choices, improve your relationships and move forward with greater confidence.
As an integrative therapist, I also draw upon person-centred therapy, interpersonal therapy, mindfulness and cognitive behavioural techniques. This allows me to tailor our work to you rather than expecting you to fit into one fixed form of therapy.
I see therapy as something we do together, at a pace that feels manageable for you. My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, feel more confident in your choices and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.
Alongside private practice, my previous experience includes working with Mind and Bupa. If you feel I may be the right therapist for you, I would be very happy to meet you for an initial conversation.

FAQs
-
Psychodynamic therapy explores how earlier experiences and relationships may be affecting your emotions, behaviour and relationships today. By recognising recurring patterns and understanding where they come from, you can begin to respond differently and make more conscious choices.
-
Integrative therapy brings together ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches. Alison adapts the way she works to suit your individual difficulties, personality and goals rather than applying one fixed method to every client.
-
Counselling and psychodynamic therapy often provide space to explore emotions, relationships and underlying patterns in greater depth. CBT usually focuses more directly on the relationship between current thoughts, feelings and behaviours. As an integrative therapist, Alison can draw upon relevant cognitive behavioural techniques while maintaining a broader relational approach.
-
Alison is registered with Bupa. Your policy may cover some or all of the cost of therapy, but you should contact Bupa before starting to confirm your cover, obtain authorisation and check whether any excess applies.
-
Alison works online with older adolescents aged 16–18, as well as adults. The matching team will consider the young person’s age, needs and circumstances when deciding whether Alison is an appropriate match.
-
The length of therapy varies depending on your difficulties, circumstances and goals. Some clients benefit from focused, shorter-term therapy, while others choose longer-term work to explore more established emotional or relationship patterns. Alison will discuss this with you and review your progress regularly.
